For this child we have prayed
When I first spoke to David and Jenna I could hear their excitement and love as they were expecting little Brandon to make his arrival. As our session approached we were in contact and their love was overflowing.
As the session started, he preferred to be perfectly awake as mama and papa held him in their arms. Flashing us the cutest little grin as his cheeks were kissed. It's not hard to tell how incredibly smitten Jenna and David are with Brandon, but not only so but with one another. There is nothing sweeter for me to see than when I'm working with a newborn how parents interact with one another. Jenna and David's love for one another is one of a kind, as they sat cuddled up to one another sharing a gentle kiss every now and then as they lovingly looked at their son simply melted my heart and stayed with me. I truly hope that as the days and years pass you two only fall deeper and deeper in love with one another!!
Here are a few words that David and Jenna shared with me about their session and their love story:
Brandon was born on November 24th at 7:36 pm weighing in at 6lbs, 14oz and 19.75 in. long!!
How did you meet?
We met at Holmes Jr High in Wheeling, IL, 1992. Jenna was the tall beautiful blue eyed blonde that David immediately was infatuated with. Although he had no chance in ever dating her, we became friends and stayed friends even after she went to Buffalo Grove High School, and he went to Wheeling High School. We lost touch after going to the Sophomore year Homecoming dance in 1995 together. Fourteen years later we randomly reconnected at the gym, went to dinner, and quickly realized we found what we each had been looking for.
What's the first thing that ran through your mind when you both found out you were pregnant?
Jenna – I thought I was dreaming.
David – I wanted to tell everyone. We were finally pregnant! I’m was so happy for my wife, who had wished and hoped and dreamt of that moment for so long.
What was the first thing you thought when you saw your baby for the first time?
Jenna – That’s our little miracle!
David – Our baby is here!
Did you want to know the gender of your little one before birth? Why?
Did you have a gender reveal party?
We did not want to know the gender and didn’t find out until our little one joined us. There are so few true amazing surprises in life, we wanted this to be one.
What is your pregnancy story?
It’s truly too long to write it all out, but it took us a long time to become pregnant after losing our first pregnancy. It was a long road after, but we kept each other strong, we never stopped dreaming and hoping, and when we finally were pregnant, we cherished every single second.
What was your favorite part about our session together?
We loved the variety of props and being able to see the sneak peeks on the camera.
How did you prepare the baby for our photo shoot?
We had a decent drive out from the city so the baby was comfy in the car seat and mommy nursed him to try and get him ready.
How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you nervous or worried before? How did it turn out?
We weren’t nervous, but we were hoping that Brandon would cooperate. We think that the pictures turned out great and enjoy sharing them with our friends.
What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken?
We think babies definitely feed off of parents energy and emotions, so go in happy, calm, and hope for the best. Make sure the baby is warm and well fed, and trust your photographer. Also, if there are certain personal props you really want to use, let the photographer know.
What kinds of things did you worry about before and during the session?
Not many worries aside from whether or not the baby would be comfy, and if the baby was warm enough.
What was your favorite part of the session and why?
When we got to hold and kiss our baby during the pictures.
