From Bumps to Babies:

A Colorful Chicago Lifestyle Session & Studio Twin Arrival

The journey of a family is a beautiful, evolving story, and there is nothing I love more than being the one to document the chapters as they unfold. I first had the pleasure of working with the Rosenberg family when their eldest son was just a tiny six-month-old. When Mom reached out to share the incredible news that they were expecting twin baby girls, I was absolutely over the moon. We decided to celebrate this massive milestone with two sessions that captured the different facets of their lives: a vibrant, soulful in-home lifestyle maternity session followed by a peaceful, high-detail studio newborn session once the girls made their grand entrance. In-Home-Lifestyle-Maternity-Session-Nursery-Chicago Our lifestyle maternity session was held right in the heart of their Deerfield home, and it remains one of my absolute favorites. Mom wanted something that felt authentic and full of life, so we leaned into the bold colors of their nursery and the natural rhythm of their day. We spent our time capturing the playful connection between the parents and their Bridger, who was more than happy to show off his toy trucks while perched near Mom’s growing bump. Of course, no family portrait would be complete without their furriest family member, their lovable dog, who made sure to stay close to the action. These images are a testament to the fun and chaotic beauty of life right before it changes forever.

Once the twins arrived, we opted for a studio newborn session at my professional space to give Mom and Dad a much-needed break. Choosing the studio meant they didn’t have to worry about tidying up the house or managing lighting; they could simply show up and relax while I took care of every detail. While capturing a family newborn photo with a toddler is famously difficult, doing so with twins is a true feat. However, their big brother was so full of adoration for his new sisters that the session felt effortless. The love in the room was palpable, and the resulting images of the three siblings together are truly breathtaking.

To make the studio session even more special, Mom brought in several deeply personal heirlooms to incorporate into the styling. We used a unique family quilt, her wedding dress, and a ring that belonged to her grandmother to create timeless, sentimental setups. I always suggest meaningful inclusions because they transform a beautiful photograph into a cherished family legacy.
